Apprenticeships

Babcock is the UK's largest work-based learning provider, delivering Apprenticeship and technical training across the public and private sectors. We work closely with a broad range of organisations to identify their individual training needs and then design, develop and deliver training to create a skilled and well-trained workforce.  Babcock currently delivers training to over 22,000 learners across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland in more than 8,000 employer sites.

An Apprenticeship comprises on-the-job training, leading to nationally recognised qualifications including NVQs and technical certificates.  Apprentices are supported through regular one-to-one visits from a designated Babcock vocational learning adviser, who is also available to assist the learner between visits.  Some programmes are entirely work-based, while others have a day or block release element, either at one of Babcock's specialist centres or at a local college.

Babcock offers Apprenticeships in Engineering, Automotive, Hospitality, Retail, Active Leisure, Health and Social Care (Elderly, Childcare, Special Needs), as well as cross sector qualifications in subjects such as Management, Administration and Team Leading.  We work with all types and sizes of businesses from international organisations to small local enterprises.

High Quality Training

We hold industry training accreditations and quality standards (such as TQS and ISO 9001) so that customers don't have to. As an Ofsted Grade 1 provider, we are trusted to deliver training to our customers' workforce, leaving them free to focus on their core business secure in the knowledge that their training is outsourced to an expert.

Access Government Funding Expertise

A proportion of the Apprenticeship training costs are subsidised by the government which means these programmes can be delivered at no/low cost to employers.  Babcock has long-standing relationships with government funding bodies and is happy to share its expertise with clients in order to maximise funding contracts.

In 2010 we drew down over £42 million of government funding on behalf of clients and learners.

Recruitment support

Babcock supports employers with their Apprenticeship recruitment needs.  We use the national Apprenticeship Vacancies Online website and our own Apprenticeship matching system to match candidates to employer vacancies
