For major corporate clients, we offer an academy model where
Babcock's training experts deliver high quality, bespoke training
programmes within in-house client-branded training academies. This
can include a residential element, similar to a university
education, where Babcock supports learners' social, personal and
physical fitness needs with a unique life skills programme
alongside industry specific qualifications.
A key strength is working with employers to incorporate
successful integration of client vision and values into our
training programmes. We can also map employers' existing in-house
training courses onto the NVQ framework, eliminating duplication,
reducing the time taken to complete the qualification and saving
money for the employer.
Case Study - BMW
At BMW's £17 million purpose built high-tech training and
development facility in Reading, Babcock designs, develops and
delivers training equating to over 6,000 Training Man Days (TMD)
per annum for BMW's Technical, Paint, Body Repair and Sales
apprentices.
The success of the Apprenticeship programme led to an additional
request from BMW to provide leadership and management training and
we now deliver highly successful training courses based on Managing
Business, Leading People and Leading Yourself. Non-apprenticeship
training now equates to over 25,000 TMDs per annum.
Babcock's training delivery for BMW has grown by approximately
30 per cent and we now deliver a greater number of courses across a
broader range of subjects, as well as creating new courses in
response to the training needs identified across BMW
dealerships.
Case Study - Network
Rail
Babcock holds the contract to deliver Advanced Apprenticeship
training to Network Rail engineering technicians. Encompassing
Signal, Track and Electrification & Plant, the Advanced
Apprenticeship scheme is one of the UK's largest Apprenticeship
training programmes accommodating around 200 apprentices per
annum.
In addition to technical training, the programme was designed to
instil Network Rail's corporate values, vital to the company's
success in developing a world class workforce. During the
past six years of the contract between Babcock and Network Rail,
1,200 Apprentices have progressed through the bespoke
Apprenticeship programme, equating to around 325,000 TMDs.
Babcock refurbished the training facilities at HMS Sultan,
Gosport, the Royal Navy's premier engineering training
establishment, to accommodate Network Rail's specific
requirements.
