Babcock is the UK's leading engineering support services organisation. We are the largest supplier of support services to the MoD, delivering all aspects of training and training support. We are uniquely placed to support the customer in the delivery of large scale, integrated tri-service training. 

We have supported military flight training and aviation engineering for more than 70 years. Our existing contracts cover support to military flying training at elementary, basic and advanced stages and delivering aircraft availability and training support. We play a key role in major programmes such as UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS).

Babcock have a unique training footprint delivering over 650,000 man-training days to more than 13,000 soldiers per year.  The 400 courses that Babcock delivers both to the British Army and to soldiers from other nations range from simple skill of hand courses to complex and specialist courses lasting in some cases more than 3 years.  Many of the courses attract a civilian qualification and Babcock also manages those elements of the courses.  Linked to training delivery, Babcock also manages the training environment, maintains infrastructure, training assets and vehicles in support of delivery of training. We hold several long-term contracts with the UK MoD where we can leverage investment and an enduring relationship with the customer to deliver long term benefit.

We have been the Royal Navy's partner for training, design, delivery and support services for 14 years and we start a new 6-year contract on 1 January 2012 when Babcock assumes output responsibility for the majority of training support services and some training delivery courses. Approximately 6,000 courses will run annually. As a solutions provider, we offer all aspects of training services from initial training needs analysis through to course design, delivery, compliance management, training innovation and general support functions. We are developing our own Learning Content Management System in support of training.

Proven experience
As industry partner at the School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and the School of Electronic and Aeronautical Engineering for over a decade, Babcock delivers 300,000 man days of technical training per year to the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).

High quality delivery
As the majority shareholder in the 30-year PPP Babcock manages the delivery of over 150 courses to 4,000 Royal Engineers at the Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME) delivering 315,000 Man Training Days per annum which has already released over 300 Royal Engineers back to the Field Army and save the MoD millions of pounds over the term of the contract. This contract is seen as best practice across the MoD and Defence for partnering and joint working.

Babcock's role in the UKMFTS programme means Ascent, our joint venture with Lockheed Martin, is at the heart of the design, acquisition and delivery of the UK Military Flying Training System.

Babcock is one of the largest civilian providers of tri-service training and training support to the armed forces in the UK and overseas.  Babcock has been running Apprenticeship programmes within the MoD for thirteen years.

Babcock regularly completes over 1,200 REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) learners every year. Babcock also covers IT apprenticeships within the Adjutants Generals' Corp and are the first provider to run a Police Apprenticeship in the country.  We currently support around 1600 - 2000 learners at any one time on a variety of Apprenticeship programme in defence Colleges and in 200 plus locations worldwide.
