Babcock Naval Services (BNS)

BNS operates the Northern Calibration Facility (NCF) at the Base, which incorporates the purpose built, environmentally controlled laboratories that provide the calibration services required to support the UK’s Trident strategic weapon system. The facility is BS EN ISO 9000 (2000) registered, is subject to regular UK / US Calibration Administration & Measurement Audits to ensure that the highest standards of calibration service are maintained. It also has the capability to calibrate many higher echelon calibration standards.

The NCF is a 'one-stop' shop calibration and limited repair service for most items of electrical and mechanical test and measuring equipment. Calibration activities currently cover 35 different electrical and mechanical parameters and some 13,000 items of 1,100 different equipment models pass through the facility every year, from absolute guages to wave analysers.
