Babcock has successfully refitted all three of the existing fleet of aircraft carriers to time and within budget, establishing Babcock as an industry leader in complex maritime project management.
The new vessels will be manufactured in a number of sections, utilising shipbuilding capacity throughout the UK and will be assembled by Babcock at Rosyth. Utilising specialist heavy lifting, skidding and laser guiding techniques, loads in excess of 12,000 tonnes and 110m length will be manoeuvred into place to the highest degree of precision for joining and final outfit, prior to commissioning by the alliance.
The 58-acre non-tidal basin, deep-sea access channel and extensive infrastructure provide the ideal site for the assembly of the new aircraft carriers. |
