Babcock Naval Services (BNS)
BNS provides specialist services to the MoD at HM Naval Base Clyde – Faslane and Coulport – where we fulfil a wide range of key engineering and management services to the Royal Navy at these sites.
This £400 million 5-year contract, which commenced in September 2002, was the first partnering agreement of its kind between the MoD and private industry. It was conceived to deliver cost savings and improved service levels to the Royal Navy and after just two years had proved a clear success on both fronts. This resulted in the MoD opting to extend the contract some 18 months earlier than planned for the five years to March 2013, bringing the total value to around £825 million and increasing the savings to the taxpayer by £68 million.
