Babcock has over 70 years' experience of delivering - flying
training, aircraft provision and through-life support to the UK's
armed forces.
Babcock's solutions are characterised by the total
integration of engineering, maintenance and logistics support
services, from development to delivery, providing the skilled
professionals who ensure both the availability of our customers'
assets and support infrastructure, and the safety of
personnel.
The UK's armed forces have some of the best aircrew in the
world. The training they receive is vital for the ongoing success
of missions, from protecting ground operations through transporting
humanitarian aid to providing search and rescue services around
Britain's coastline. We provide the skilled professionals who
ensure both the availability of assets and support infrastructure,
and the safety of personnel. Our integrated approach is evident in
our ongoing contracts.
Flying Training
As part of the Ascent consortium, a 50:50 joint venture
with Lockheed Martin, Babcock delivers the UK Military Flying Training
System (UKMFTS) programme. UKMFTS is an incremental programme
that will eventually deliver the aircrew training requirement for
all 3 armed services. As part of the programme Babcock delivers
infrastructure and ICT and recently saw the completion of new
facilities at RAF Valley to support Advanced Fast Jet Pilot
training and RAF Barkston Heath and RNAS Culdrose to support the
Royal Navy Observer training.
Babcock currently provides support at the Elementary,
Basic and Advanced stages of military flying training. Through
the Light Aircraft Flying Task (LAFT2) contract, Babcock
provides aircraft instructors and services to support Elementary
Flying training University Air squadrons and Air Experience
flights delivering 50,000 flying hours a year at 15 sites using our
fleet of over 100 Grob 115E aircraft. Through the Tucano In Service
Support Contract (TISC) Babcock manages the Royal Air Force's fleet
of Tucano aircraft to deliver over 13,000 flying hours per year of
Basic Fast Jet Training. At RAF Valley Babcock provides engineering
support to both the Hawk T1 and Hawk T2 in delivering over 13,000
flying hours per year in the Advanced Fast Jet training
role.
Asset Management

the aircraft and ensuring availability for their vital role in the
fast-jet pilot training at RAF Valley, RAF Leeming, RNAS Culdrose
and RNAS Yeovilton.
Babcock also plays a significant part in the delivery of
the UK MoD mission critical 24/7 Search and Rescue (SAR) service
