The tough climate that manufacturing has faced in recent years
has served to place added emphasis on the need to boost
productivity and competitiveness and is something that is
constantly on the agenda of the UK government. Through the
appropriate staff training, it has been proven that there is
reported improvement in productivity, a lower cost of
manufacturing, increased competitiveness and reduced
downtime.
SEMTA the Sector Skills Council for the engineering sector together
with industry bodies have developed engineering vocational
qualifications which are nationally designed training programmes
offering employees the opportunity to enhance their careers through
a combination of training and assessment.
