David Ruff Managing Director David Ruff was appointed Managing Director of Babcock Defence Services in January 2009 having run Babcock’s defence consultancy, LSC Group, for a year. Prior to joining the Babcock group, David worked for Flagship Training Ltd, the then joint venture between BAE Systems and VT Group Plc. At Flagship, David held the position of Business Development Director, responsible for all aspects of winning business including business development, sales, marketing and bids. Previously, David was the Strategy & Business Development Director for VT Vehicle Solutions; this business having been acquired as Lex Vehicle Solutions, from RAC Plc, which David had joined some 2 years earlier. In these roles, he was also a non-executive director of RAC Software Solutions Ltd. Prior to this, David came to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) via the Rhodesian & British armies; he also served with the Royal Marines. His last appointments in the MoD included Combat Support Vehicles IPT Leader, where he formed the (then) DLO Land’s first through-life IPTs, via a novel merger with DPA IPTs. He also worked with McKinsey & Co, leading the Land Implementation Team, transitioning the End-to-End Study to become the Defence Logistic Transformation Programme.

Dave Aunger Director of Air and Sea Support Dave has worked for BDS since early 2003 when he began as Contract Manager for the multi-activity contract at RAF Lyneham. Dave was promoted to the Executive Board in 2006 and is now the business owner for the technical service contracts, which includes aviation maintenance, multi-activity contracts and simulator maintenance support. |

Dean Riggall HR Director Dean joined BDS in January 2006 as HR Director. Dean has worked within HR throughout his professional career and spent ten years working within the retail industry, primarily based in London. He has a broad generalist HR background comprising employee relations, change management and restructuring, TUPE transfers, litigation representation, recruitment and training. He has responsibility for HR and Health and Safety. |

Norman Hodges Director of Support Services Norman joined BDS in 2004, before which his commercial background was predominantly within the leisure industry with a variety of Director level appointments. He is a Chartered Fellow of CIPD and a member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport. Norman began his career in the Parachute Regiment of the Regular and then Reserve Army until 2003, gaining wide experience in logistics and peace support operations in multi-national units. Norman joined the BDS’s Executive Board in 2006 as Resource Director and is currently Operations Director for Acetech Personnel Limited. |
