Babcock hire cranes and a wide range of construction equipment and gear plus small tools to the regional construction market and to meet the groups’ in-house requirement.
Babcock operates a South African Civil Aviation Authority approved examination centre, and is the sole accredited Cessna Pilot Centre on the African continent.
The group is also a significant player in the welding industry and holds dealerships for STEL, Lincoln Electric equipment and consumables. Babcock has an agency for Volvo Penta diesel motors, and supplies Penta- based diesel generators to the domestic and industrial markets.
The company has a significant dealer- footprint in the region with 13 branches in South Africa and one in Zambia, in addition to independent dealerships in Botswana, Namibia, Swaziland and South Africa.
Babcock is also a multi-disciplinary project-led engineering and construction company that specializes in integrated delivery and maintenance of steam-generation plant to the process engineering sector, as well as general mechanical construction services to the petrochemical and metallurgical industries. A further speciality is the dismantling, and shipping of redundant process- plant, ready for re-erection and re-commissioning at new sites, frequently in different countries.
Babcock specializes in the delivery of maintenance services to Utility power boilers and maintains boiler plant at 5 major Eskom power stations in South Africa. Babcock also design, supply and construct electricity transmission and distribution supply lines across the South African sub- continent. A wide selection of engineering support services back up the major product range.
Babcock operates a specialised high integrity pressure component fabrication facility that supplies components to meet the groups’ in-house requirement as well as general market demand.
Babcock has over 120 years of operational experience in Africa and is able to offer services that cover a wide range of customer’s requirements. All services are supplied to an appropriate ISO 9000-2000 Quality Management System and the company is currently implementing an integrated Safety, Environmental and Quality Business Risk Management system.
