Submarine Weapons Handling and Launch Systems (WHLS)
With over 35 years experience, Babcock is an expert in Weapon Handling and Launch Systems.
Our systems are found on UK, US, Canadian and Australian Platforms – with current projects under way for the Spanish and South Korean submarine platforms.
Babcock is the Delegated Design Authority for all UK submarines Weapon Handling and Launch Systems and has provided modern ATP based systems on the UK’s new Astute Submarine and the Spanish S-80.
Submarine Air Turbine Pump
Babcock delivers the current state of the art torpedo discharge systems with a positive discharge system at the heart of which is the Air Turbine Pump (ATP). The ATP, in conjunction with our Programmable Firing Valve (PFV) technology delivers an optimised, quiet and flexible weapons discharge capability, enabling maximum salvo firing rate in a compact space envelope.
